Paper Planes

This term we are looking at measurement. On friday we made paper planes and had races and worked out different ways to measure how far they went. Heres some photos of our races.

Art Exhibition

This week we have been working really hard on our beautiful art that is going to be displayed in the exhibition next TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY! Come and check it out before or after school on Tuesday or Wednesday. Our art is available to buy AND there will be drinks,chocolate and chips to buy! Hope to see you all there :)

World literacy day

 On Monday it was world literacy day. After lunch we had Rm 2 come to our class to read with us. We read them our favourite story that we had written and they read us their favourite stories that they had written. We also shared our favourite books. We finished off our time with Room 2 by listening to a story about a grumpy farmer. It was a lovely afternoon :)

Today we learnt how to say Pe'ea Koe? (How are you) and Meitaki Maata (i'm good thank you) Anahiiri, Teane, Denzel, Jay and Dawn went and asked some of the teachers how they were.

Each day we will be learning a new word or phrase and be putting it up on our blog. Please check out our videos every day and have a go at learning all the new words and phrases at home. Perhaps you could upload or send us your own videos!

Kenya Wins Gold!!

Today we had the IA Commonwealth Games. We participated in lots of different sports, there was basketball, egg and spoon race, net ball, relays, javelin and tennis. Everytime we went to a new sport we got points out of 10 for mindfulness, listening and sportsmanship. At the end all our points got added together annnnnd... WE WON! We are very proud of our gold medal :)

It is Maori Language Week! Our word of the week is apopo. We have been learning how to say see you tomorrow. This is how we said goodbye to Miss Taylor today!

We ran out of time today but next week we are going to come up with our OWN definition of what we think listening is and then we will post it on here so you can all have a look. 

Next week the Pirates have decided that it is our goal to be great listeners so we will need to remember all of these things! :) 

Zoo Trip

Yesterday we went to the zoo.
We had the most amazing time looking at all the different animals and their habitats. We talked today about how the zoo tries to recreate the animals natural habitat for them.

 We learnt that giraffes have REALLY long tongues that are BLUE so that they don't get sunburnt

 We got to see a real life kiwi in the dark

 We enjoyed seeing the giraffes moving around in their habitat but it sure did smell!

 The Rhino, we thought that it was the baby brother Rhino because of his tail

 We thought that the alligators weren't real because they hardly moved. We also found out that they can stay underwater for 8 HOURS!! we couldn't hold our breath for that long.
